Beep beep, the legendary Casio F91W...
I have a bit of a health issue, so every 45 minutes to an hour, I have to get up and move around a bit. But when I'm working (or entertaining myself 😅) I... completely forget. I often sit for hours on end.
Back in the day, I had a legendary Casio F91W that would "beep beep" at the right time. Simple, effective.
You can set a ton of alarms, but each time you have to Stop or Snooze. So there are few reminders, and many distractions. I thought about Pomodoro, but Pomodoro is for breaking work sessions and rest; you have to press Start each time you begin, which doesn't fit my style of just needing a "beep" every 45 minutes and then that's it.
So I went looking for an app. There are some out there, but either the interface is ugly, or there are ads all the time, or they require payment, or there's too many features, or the ringtones are lame, and sometimes the feature I need is missing... so I decided to make one myself.
My requirements are also simple: set it once and forget it + No ads + Short ringtone, easy on the ears + Only rings during the times I want (for example, 8 AM–10 PM) + Able to choose days of the week + supports both Android phones and Wear OS watches.
And thus Hourly Chime: Custom Interval was born.
