LightBI – a local-first BI project I am developing.

LightBI is an idea: how can users import raw data from Excel, CSV, Google Sheets, databases, or ERP exports, and then receive reliable analyses to support decision-making.

Instead of starting with "creating a dashboard", LightBI takes the opposite approach:

Understand the data first → define the context → test the sufficiency of evidence → analyze → generate findings/actions → then comes the dashboard.

The point I want to maintain from the beginning is local-first.

Business data is processed on the user's machine. The online part only serves things like release, license, minimal telemetry, and later possibly account/sync at the user's choice. LightBI does not aim to turn the user's business data into its own cloud data.

Currently, LightBI has handled problems such as:

• Revenue, gross profit, margin
• Inventory and warehouse operations
• Shipping / fulfillment
• Comparative analysis across periods
• Analysis of multiple data sources
• Deep BA with evidence, limitations, and actions
• Advanced Mode for query/database
• Dashboard and export

Aside from the core app, I have also just completed the distribution system for LightBI: release, analytics, app usage, license management, email flow, and admin portal.

The beta version now has a native Windows version for testing.

LightBI is still in the Beta stage, so we will continue testing, hardening, and adjusting UI/UX. The app will be continuously updated and developed in the near future.

The most interesting thing for me is not just creating another BI app, but trying to transform years of experience in operations, ERP, logistics, data, and business analysis into a product that can be reused by many others.

There's still a lot of work ahead, but at least now it's no longer just an "idea".
