I often find really great videos on YouTube about technology, studying, or specialized topics, but not every video has subtitles. Sometimes the content I want to review is in a language I am not proficient enough to fully understand.

That’s why I started building VGLOT.

VGLOT is a Chrome extension that helps you watch YouTube videos with bilingual subtitles, even for those videos that do not have subtitles available.

Instead of relying solely on YouTube's captions, VGLOT can process the video audio to create a transcript and translation. Subtitles are displayed in a separate panel, synchronized with the video playback time.

Some current features:

- Supports 61 input languages and automatically detects the supported language.

- Translates into 109 target languages.

- Displays original subtitles and translations side by side.

- Synchronizes subtitles when playing, pausing, or seeking the video.

- Click on a subtitle line to jump to the exact moment in the video.

- Customize font, colors, size, and position of the panel.

- Reuse processed subtitles without needing to translate the same content and language pair again.

Who is VGLOT suitable for?

Those who usually watch lectures, programming tutorials, technology videos, interviews, academic materials, or are learning a foreign language through YouTube.

Currently, VGLOT works on Chrome, for public YouTube videos. You just need to install the extension, connect your account, choose a language, and start.

Can be used for free with 30 minutes each month, no need to purchase a paid plan to try it out.

VGLOT is an independent product I am building at Knoveya. The product has been released on the Chrome Web Store and I am continuously improving it based on real feedback.
