I am the founder of VieEasy. Today I bring to you a personal project that I have been nurturing for a long time: an application that teaches Vietnamese to foreigners.

Actually, this idea came from a very ordinary observation. I have a few foreign friends who came to Vietnam for work. They all installed popular language learning apps to learn Vietnamese. But when they go to a café to order a cup of coffee or go to the market to buy things, they are still completely at a loss.

The reason is that the large apps are teaching Vietnamese exactly like they teach English or French. They use a soulless computer voice, overlook the differences between the Northern and Southern accents, and the tonal system is hardly guided in detail. Learners only know how to string words together mechanically.

VieEasy was created to solve that very problem: Teaching practical Vietnamese.

In terms of features, the biggest difference of VieEasy is that we focus on contextual communication. Instead of memorizing vocabulary, users are placed in simulated situations like bargaining at the market or renting a house. They will have direct conversations with an AI Teacher. The system will listen, recognize pronunciation, and immediately correct any mistakes in punctuation - something that is a nightmare for Vietnamese learners.

Additionally, the app has a system of naturally recorded conversation listening exercises, accompanied by explanations of culture and slang, helping learners understand the context behind the words.

In terms of technology, this system is built on Next.js and directly integrated with natural language processing APIs to provide real-time voice responses.

The product is still in the refinement stage and certainly has many shortcomings. I am posting here hoping that product, dev, and design folks can try it out, throw some feedback my way, and give honest suggestions so I know the next steps for improvement.
