What is the product?

NexCode IDE is a lightweight, fast, and extensible source code editor built on Electron + TypeScript + Monaco Editor — part of the Hyggshi OS ecosystem. It is currently being developed through Insider builds aimed at version 4.0.0.

What problem does it solve?

Many current IDEs are heavy, consume a lot of RAM, and adding a few extensions can make the machine sluggish. NexCode aims for a lightweight experience (target ≤150MB RAM idle) while still providing enough features for everyday programming work.

- Multi-tab/multi-shell terminal (node-pty + xterm.js, WebGL renderer)

- Built-in AI Agent (supports Gemini and local models via Ollama/LM Studio/llama.cpp)

- Custom theme/extension system (.hsiext), Markdown preview with Mermaid

- VS Code-style Workspace Trust, run-configuration (actions.json)

- A Web Edition running alongside the Desktop version

A familiar VS Code-style interface (Codicon icon set) but lighter, developed completely independently, continuously updated through Stable/Insider channels, and includes some fun easter eggs (Blue Archive) for those who appreciate small details.
